About Mesclarte
A meeting point for creativity, culture and the economy in the Atlantic.
Mesclarte is organised by Associação das Indústrias Criativas in Funchal. The 2024 and 2025 editions took place in the Noble Hall of the Legislative Assembly of Madeira; the 2023 edition was held at Forte de São Tiago.
Through exhibitions, performances, debates and tributes, the summit brings creators and institutions together. Past participants include John Howkins, known for his work on the creative economy. Nini Andrade Silva was honoured in 2025.
Madeira as a meeting place
Recent themes include “Reinventing Tradition” (2024) and the “Orange Economy” (2025). The summit explores how creativity connects heritage, innovation and livelihoods.
